On April 5th the Swedish Thrashers from Terminal prospect her second album «Redefine Existence» Gravity entertainment published. The band modestly describes their music as "Superior Swedish Thrash" and are proud to release their latest work: The album deals with topics that Terminal prospect are themselves a concern and occupy the musicians personally.
Terminal Prospect was formed in 2005 by Kristian Norelius and Jussi Niiranen with the idea of combining classic thrash metal with melodic death metal. But the idea only gradually took shape when ex-DOGMA drummer and producer Sebastian Rojas joined the band in 2006. With their debut «Absence of Light», the four guys proved that there is definitely musical competence for a «walk through». Process massively and brutally Terminal prospect in their music and in their lyrics the failure of mankind and the effects of centuries of overexploitation of the environment and people among themselves.
At the same time, Terminal Prospect seem to be a group that is "willing to learn" and one that, despite their self-proclaimed stylistic assignment, does not impose any limits on themselves. The band proves to be more complex on the latest album and can not only play plenty of thrash from different origins and generations (from «Forbidden» to «Trivium» to «Nevermore») and melodic death metal (from «At the Gates» to the early "In Flames"), but also plenty of catchy passages and harmonies of the Maiden school. These set a contrast, not only with the heaviness of the material, but also with the sometimes quite harsh, complex parts, which come into their own even better, especially since the gentlemen really know how to make their compositions catchy. Heavy, melodic thrash metal riffing combined with classic rhythms and harmonies. The following statement about «Redefine Existence» by the band itself:
This album is the soundtrack of the different states of mind: anger, hate, frustration, power and strength. The thoughts of this album are simple and directly to the point: It's just the band playing. We developed our sources of inspiration as we as a band considered the power of life. The lyrics are written in different situations of our lives. "Redefine Existence" means that when you ask yourself to retry everything, clean up yourself from the frustrations - then in the end you are much stronger than before.
Many songs plow a direct path into memory after a short start-up time. Kristian Norelius' organ takes some getting used to, though, whose voice knows how to convey aggression and in some passages comes across appropriately malicious, but in the long run leaves the impression that he has to fight against the elemental force of his colleagues. Of course, the voice fits in with the mercilessly oppressive instrumental performance, especially in the rather straightforward Thrash area, but in the long run, due to the pitch of the voice and the crackling, there is a certain saturation, and the strong reverb on the high pitch also helps and not always the same croaking song.
Unfortunately, «Redefine Existence» comes along completely without any hits and if you can get used to the singing, which really hasn't become a highlight and after increased enjoyment it really gets on your nerves, the album is solid but lacks climaxes and is therefore rather irrelevant A work that requires nerves of steel due to the vocals and therefore gets a point deduction.
