A very special attraction was recently opened in the Japanese province of Hunan in the Shiniuzhai Nature Park: the world's longest bridge with a glass floor! It is a full 300 meters long and leads over an abyss that is up to 180 meters deep. There is one problem, however: although the glass used is 25 times stronger than conventional window glass, few tourists dare to climb the bridge. That is why the building is unofficially called “Heroes' Bridge”. Originally a wooden bridge crossed the valley. Then the park management thought about a way to attract more visitors and replaced part of the bridge with glass. It was completely rebuilt that year when eleven engineers were using the new glass plates twelve hours a day. They are so stable that you could jump on them without breaking. And even if something happened, the steel structure would prevent a fall. The Heldenbrücke will soon be replaced as the longest glass bridge in the world. Zhangjiajie National Park is already building one that will be 430 meters long.
