A Croatian entrepreneur has created a free app that uses character recognition software to solve math equations in seconds. You scan a mathematical equation with your cell phone and the app called «PhotoMath» calculates the solution for you and also shows all the steps that lead to the end result. App inventor Damir Sabol says: “The students can look up their results in their books. You can calculate quickly and get the result immediately. So they can check what they did right or wrong. You can also view all the solution steps in detail. So it's not just about getting results, but being able to track the entire process through to the solution."

The app, which was launched last October, has already been downloaded XNUMX million times. But not everyone is happy: some say the app doesn't work properly, especially when it comes to long and complicated equations. App inventor Damir Sabol: “We are in the process of releasing a new version of the app. First the Android version will come out as this is a much bigger market and we expect it to grow there, but not only that - the new version will also be able to solve much more complex math problems.»
