With "Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale", director Jalmari Helander has staged a Christmas film of a different kind: buried in the depths of the Korvatunturi mountain, not far from a small Finnish village, is probably the darkest secret of Christmas. However, excavations by an ominous company bring the truth to light. Anyone who believes that Santa Claus does not really exist will be taught otherwise. The old man with the bushy beard is real! However, he has nothing to do with the friendly laughing and milk and biscuit loving man that children all over the world wait for every year. In Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale we are presented with a completely different version of Santa Claus - an evil one. Santa Claus has made it his task not to give presents to the children, but to kidnap them. Only a little boy and a few men from the village stand in the way of the supposedly most popular man in the world.
You can't teach a person anything, you can only help him discover it within himself.
