Since then, the song has mutated into a true "Walking Dead" insider gag, and can often be found on YouTube or on fans' cell phones.
The sudden interest in "Easy Street" has consequences, the song is slowly but surely fighting its way to the top of the iTunes charts. In the British charts he is said to have made it to 3th place after the broadcast of the 7rd episode of the 9th season. In Germany, "Easy Street" is in the top 30. The optimistic song is suddenly getting more attention on Spotify than ever before. The UK Page «Independent» asked songwriter Jim Banco about it. He was initially surprised by the request from "The Walking Dead", because in his opinion the happy, over-the-top upbeat number didn't fit the otherwise gloomy show, "but now I understand it – to torture someone, of course".
